Tourism gave the Bay’s local economy a real boost over summer.

Guest nights in the Bay of Plenty for December were up 27 nights on December the year before.

“Tourism in the Bay is in great shape and there is a real flow-on effect to the rest of the local economy,” says Todd Muller.

The latest Household Labour Force Survey (HLFS) shows unemployment has dropped for the past three quarters in the Bay of Plenty, down to 6.2 per cent in the Dec 2015 quarter says Todd Muller, MP for Bay of Plenty.

Just in time for Term One, Bay of Plenty’s schools are all able to connect to faster, more reliable broadband says Todd Muller.

“In 2010, the Government set a target of getting all state and integrated schools access to better broadband speeds by 2016. We’ve done this, on time and on budget,” Todd said.
